New Year News

Happy New Year to everyone – How is the New Year going for everyone out there?  I know it is tough out there in many of the sectors we work in – but I do hope you have set some good positive goals that will take you forwards into a wonderful New Year for you and your family.

This theme for this year for me is one of “Success.”  This is the year of reaching goals that I have never quite reached for all the reasons that you have probably not reached yours.

I spent a lot of last year thinking and reading and pondering and this year is the time to take action.   My byline is to “take effective action” and that really is an aspirational statement for me because I am very good at taking action but have not been so good at taking the effective ones! In fact my journals can attest to the fact that there are some goals that I set every year and are yet to achieve!

But this is the year that I am doing somethings different in order to get different results.  Here are a few of the things I have on the go that I will share once ready to go.

An online garden course called:

Starting out in the Vegetable Garden: How to grow food for your family in your backyard even If you have never gardened before:

Aim: To help anyone who has not gardened before to begin growing food for the family.

I’ve had the platform to do this for a couple of years – and paid for it! – but never managed to quite get something up and running. So I am currently finalising the course, working out how it all works and all the techy stuff.  I’ve had to overcome the fear of speaking on camera and putting myself out there though. The picture above is a snap taken just before my daughter filmed me.   Its amazing what we can do these days once we let go of perfectionism. I know it won’t be perfect but if it takes brand new gardeners from overwhelm to getting some plants in the ground to feed their family – my mission will have been achieved.

Secondly, I am going to create and make available a video to go along with the purchase of my Vintage style crop rotation poster.  I know this calendar looks pretty on the wall – especially when nicely framed – but it is also very practical.  It will also tell you what, when and where to plant. So it is beautiful and useful! My two favourite things!  However I think it would be helpful to you busy people to give a clear explanation of how it works just to help get us further along the road a  little quicker.

So – I am going to do a short video with an overview of how to use it in real life  and how it will make your vegetable garden planning life much easier. I will send out the link for that when people buy the poster from me – or just make it part of the promotion. Let Keren@professionalcountrywoman.com or dm on facebook etc if you want me to send you the link when completed.

Kitchen Garden Calendar Quick Update.

Just on that poster – as postage is getting really expensive particularly for overseas, I have put up an option to purchase it as a pdf which you can take down to your local printer and get printed out in A2 yourself.   A good option for overseas purchasers.

To purchase go to the menu on this blog and click on shop to find out more.

New Book Coming

Thirdly – some very exciting news. On top of this, I am going to be publishing a book this year around May.

There. I’ve said it. It’s out there in the world now.

And what am I doing differently that means this is going to happen this year?  I have been working on this for years but never managed to get it to the editing stage, the publishing stage or any other stage really.   So what I have done differently is sign up to an Australian publishing company who  are providing excellent mentorship and a framework to do this so although I feel a bit terrified – I am still moving forward. I’m going to save the details for their own separate post so look out for that!

And finally, the final news years prediction that I am making for this year is this: I am going to get more flowers – because of course I am planting more !

It all comes down in the end to the age old wisdom – you reap what you sow.  This is a year of reaping for me and I hope that it is for you as well.  I’d love to hear what you are doing this year and all the very best.
